In the particular system I tested I got a different (maybe related?)
behavior:

- Started a compression files operation (slow operation)
- Monitored Nautilus own progress bar (displayed accordingly)
- Monitored the progress bar shown in the dock (no forward progress, stayed at
0 all the time)

Whether I closed Nautilus or not no progress would be shown in the dock.
Eventually a little later after the system notification is shown
advertising that the operation completed, the progress bar, which was
still showing no progress, finally disappears.

I tested with Ubuntu 24.04.3 after doing all applicable upgrades.

GNOME 46 on Wayland, Nautilus 1:46.4-ubuntu0.2, ubuntu-dock 90ubuntu3.
