I am trying to revive an old Acer 640U scanner that has been lying
around for a while. Everything I read seem so to indicate that it should
Just Work. However, although it is detected xsane cannot open it.

failed to open device 'snapscan:libusb:002;105'

$ scanimage -L

lsusb says:

My cannon scanner works fine
