Public bug reported: Please remove powertop-1.13 from resolute. It is a long unmaintained version of powertop and is an Ubuntu-specific package.
Unfortunately, the changelog entries don't include a Launchpad bug or an explanation of why this fork of powertop was needed. Repology shows that there is one other distro that packaged 1.13 separately: Alt Linux. In 2011, its maintainer wrote "- rebuilt as powertop1 conflicting with powertop since powertop 2.x UI is inferior to me so far even if its capabilities are remarkably higher" https://repology.org/project/powertop/versions https://packages.altlinux.org/en/p10/srpms/powertop1/specfiles/ Alt Linux's version got one additional patch in 2012 and then like Ubuntu, it's package hasn't received any changes to the upstream code. Since 2011, powertop 2 has continued to receive updates. Ubuntu Desktop includes and integrates power-profiles-daemon by default which provides a simple and easy way to adjust power performance. tuned and tlp were also packaged for Debian after that point. But it looks like no one is maintaining a powertop 1.x fork. I'm subscribing Evan, Jamie, and Loïc to this bug. If I don't hear back from them by end of January, I'll subscribe ubuntu-archive to this removal bug. ** Affects: powertop-1.13 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: resolute ** Description changed: Please remove powertop-1.13 from resolute.
