I discovered that zswap is disabled by default, and I agree that this
configuration is a good design decision. However, it took me weeks of
frustration with freezing while running chrome / vscode, and prior
mincraft on a separate machine to finally ask the community and discover
that setting up virtual memory was a very effective solution.
It would be helpful to new linux users to somehow bring this
configuration, and other common hacks veterans know into a tool that
could help customize these settings, or even educate new users on how
that works. Manual control is great, but also intimidating.
