Since it is 26.04 LTS season right now....
Please accommodate a default filesystem of xfs besides ext4 without
having to manually partition.
I have been standardized on xfs as the file system since 2004. I
understand over at the Red Hat camp, they have made it their default
file system now.
I seek just a question of "OK, so you want default partitions... but
what file system would you prefer for the root file partition?" And that
answer could be ext4 / xfs / perhaps others.
With computers shifting away from BIOS access to EFI access to the
drives, partitioning has become delicate and challenging. As far as
recent LTS releases.... 22.04 was most painful. Many many installations
of 22.04 ended up creating not bootable drives. With such complexity of
partitions required.... it would be a very nice accommodation to simply
ask during the installation which file system is preferred for the root
file system, and for ubiquity to take care of the rest of the
complexities on its own.
