I tried adding the version attribute to
/usr/share/gtksourceview-4/styles/Yaru.xml...
<style-scheme id="Yaru" _name="Yaru" kind="light" version="4.0">
...but I got the error...
GtkSourceView-WARNING **: 22:53:09.365: could not load style scheme file
'/usr/share/gtksourceview-4/styles/Yaru.xml': unsupported version '4.0'
So it does seem to expect a version attribute to be specified in this
file, but it's not clear which version number it is looking for.
(Note, this was tested on Ubuntu 25.10 with package
libgtksourceview-4-0, version 4.8.4-7).
