I can confirm, that issue exists in latest Ubuntu 24.04.3 (at least in
LxQT and IceWM environments) - onboard 1.4.1-5ubuntu6 package and is
fixed in Owen Kent onboard 1.4.3 fork -
https://github.com/owenpkent/onboard

I've created packaging recipe for onboard 1.4.3, everyone can simple add
ppa:baltix repo ant test new 1.4.3 release:
https://code.launchpad.net/~baltix/+recipe/onboard-1.4.3-lp-bug-2136781

Here is terminal output with onboard 1.4.1-5ubuntu6 package from Ubuntu (always
crashes, not usable):
~$ onboard
Segmentation fault
~$ onboard
Segmentation fault

Here is terminal output with onboard 1.4.3 package from ppa:baltix/ppa (works
perfectly):
~$ onboard
~$ onboard --version
1.4.3-9

Btw, Onboard 1.4.3 adds acpid to recommends, is this ok? acpid isn't used in
any modern project, just old environments, like enlightenment and finit
recommends it!
 ~$ apt-cache show onboard |grep -i Recommends
onboard 1.4.3- :
Recommends: gir1.2-ayatanaappindicator3-0.1, gir1.2-atspi-2.0, acpid,
onboard-data (>= 1.4.3-0~20251218~ubuntu24.04.1),

onboard 1.4.1-5:
Recommends: gir1.2-ayatanaappindicator3-0.1, gir1.2-atspi-2.0, onboard-data (>=
1.4.1-5ubuntu6),
