Steps to reproduce:
Install nvidia-driver-580-open
Open any GTK4 file chooser (zenity, nautilus, Chrome file dialog)
Navigate directories
Expected: Instant response
Actual: 10+ seconds delay, proportional to number of files
Workaround: Rollback to nvidia-driver-535 resolves the issue
System: Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS, GTK 4.14.5, GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER
Key technical details to include:
strace showed heavy /dev/nvidiactl access during file listing
Delay scales with file count (~150ms per file)
Software rendering (LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1) did NOT help
Problem affects all GTK4 apps, not GTK3 or Qt
