I proposed upstream (Debian maintainer) to add autopkgtests via MP
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/simdutf/-/merge_requests/4

If/once merged I'll update the MIR bug description accordingly.

> 2. This package lacks a .symbols tracking file. Please either add
symbols tracking to this package or make a justification as to the
efforts made and why it is not feasible. More details starting at L#303
of https://documentation.ubuntu.com/project/MIR/mir-reviewers-
template/#mir-reviewers-template

Discussed that with upstream Debian maintainer, the lack of a .symbols
is intentional, because they are typically an extra maintenance burden
for packages shipping C++ libraries (the case of simdutf), mainly but
not exclusively due to how symbols are mangled in C++, making hard to
keep track of reliably. While there are tools to assist in that, such as
the pkg-kde-tools suite (specifically pkgkde-symbolshelper), upstream
believes the extra maintenance burden does not pay out. Surely we don't
want to carry a delta for that either.
