Public bug reported:

After the latest updates, GNOME Shell crashes when a Bluetooth
handsfree headset connects (HFP/HSP). This started on 2026-01-19 and is
reproducible every time.

  Timeline (MSK):

  - 2026-01-19 19:12:39: GNOME Shell crashes with signal 6.
  - 2026-01-19 19:13:05: GNOME Shell crashes again immediately after restart.

  Relevant log evidence:

  - GNOME Shell abort:

Gvc:ERROR:../subprojects/gvc/gvc-mixer-stream.c:535:gvc_mixer_stream_get_port:
code should not be reached
  - Bluetooth/HFP failures around crash:
    bluetoothd: profiles/audio/avdtp.c:handle_unanswered_req() No reply to
SetConfiguration request
bluetoothd: Hands-Free Voice gateway ... Transport endpoint is not
connected (107)
  - Kernel Bluetooth error:
Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for unknown connection handle 257
  - PipeWire/WirePlumber restarted around the crash window (seen in user
journal).

  Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Boot and log into GNOME (Wayland).
  2. Connect Bluetooth handsfree headset (HFP/HSP).

  Expected Result:
Headset connects and GNOME Shell remains stable.

  Actual Result:
GNOME Shell aborts (signal 6) shortly after headset connects; session
restarts; crash repeats on reconnect.

  System:
  Ubuntu 26.04, GNOME Shell 49.2-1ubuntu1, kernel 6.18.0-8-generic, BlueZ 5.85.
