Oh I think I see the problem.
The function 'meta_display_get_pad_action_label' and type
'MetaPadActionType' were deleted in Mutter 45, yet you have GNOME 46
still trying to use them. Ordinarily it would be obvious in the log that
we're trying to call a non-existent function but in this case the
missing type seems to be masking that.
This mistake in gnome-shell doesn't seem to have been fixed until gnome-
shell 49, and it's certainly not fixed in the gnome-46 maintenance
branch.
