Public bug reported:
Hi,
We're evaluating Ubuntu in our VDI infrastructure, based on Dell-Wyse
Thinclients and on-premise hypervisors. We're on "basic" RDP/AVD (no
citrix, vmware, pcopip, blast etc...)
Trying to use Remote Login feature from our DELL-Wyse ThinClients fails.
As far as I understand, Ubuntu RDP implementation does an "Hybrid" session
opening process, mimicking a broker and then redirecting to itslef.
This process is not understood by the thinclient, although this is true
Microsoft AVD client (packaged by DELL in its ThinOS).
We can either define a "direct" connection or a "broker" connection. There is
no place for adjusting some rdp.ini files and add the "enableredirect" thing
for a direct connection.
Any hints ?
We have to switch to xrdp which work reasonably well.. but has more
latency that the build-in RDP server implementation. xrdp sessions are
better with Xfce / Xfwm4 / lightdme that gnome.
(Also a common VDI scenario is to roam across clients, which does not
seem possible with the build-in Remote Login feature. )
