Public bug reported:
Using Ubuntu 25.10, all current, Emacs no longer has working support for
softlinks in dired mode. Poking around on-line suggests that an external
`ls` is used, and indeed by doing (a quick hacked)
```sh
edd@paul:/tmp$ cd /usr/bin/
edd@paul:/usr/bin$ sudo mv ls ls.rs
edd@paul:/usr/bin$ sudo ln gnuls ls
```
functionality was restored. Feel free to reassign to the emacs packages
if you think that is more appropriate.
** Affects: coreutils (Ubuntu)
