Now, with the correct version of the Nvidia 580 drivers, I still see
that the Nvidia Control Panel states that the PowerMizer setting is
running in Adaptive mode. ggggrrrr..... I mean to have the system
actually using the Nvidia board I specifically purchased, installed,
loaded drivers.... "Pedal to the metal, burn baby, burn! Let's go
already!"

I am able to have the Windows Tweaks Manager \ Compositor \ Enable
Display Compositing check box checked, and no hideous UI flashing
occurs. Having the Compositor enabled again removes the ugly black box
around the Xfce Panel menu.
