I am yet another (desktop) user who has run into this bug last weekend. I set up my laptop some months ago with ubuntu studio 24.04 and added XFCE since I use Xubuntu since 2008.
Terminal output for "SNAPD_DEBUG=1 snap run firefox" is attached. Changing the DBUS_SESSION_ADDRESS does not help and neither does removing, purging and reinstalling firefox. I can only start firefox (or any other snap) as sudo after setting xhost + local: (which is a bad idea, I know). When I start Discover, I get a warning that the authentication failed and I am not able to install anything using Discover. The most interesting part: I got into this when I started to try to setup the fingerprint sensor which (according to spec) should be part of my laptop, but as it turns out cannot be found. Since I started to configure libpam-fprintd and have the problem since then, I strongly support Tim Richardson's theory that this is related to a skipped step during the login which has something to do with pam. For reproduction I propose to: + install ubuntu studio with plasma desktop + sudo apt install xubuntu-desktop + login to your Xubuntu or XFCE desktop using lightdm + sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y + sudo apt install fprintd libpamfprintd + sudo pam-auth-update + select lightdm as session manager + don't change anything on the selection page for the authentication method and close the configuration wizard Since a fix is not in sight since 5 years and none of the displayed workarounds help, I guess I have to setup my whole laptop again on the weekend. If any additional logs are needed, I'm glad to (get) help. ** Attachment added: "debug_output.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1951491/+attachment/5942516/+files/debug_output.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951491 Title: Can't run snaps: .slice/session-1.scope is not a snap cgroup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/x2go/+bug/1951491/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
