Public bug reported: Please remove mx44 from resolute. It is an Ubuntu-specific package with a large number of issues.
1. It fails to build from source in resolute 2. If I try to run it in Ubuntu Desktop resolute (which no longer includes gtk2 by default), I get $ /usr/bin/mx44 /usr/bin/mx44: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory 3. After installing gtk2, I run into the 2 bugs that were reported long ago, LP: #338740 & LP: #1615336 so it doesn't work 4. The reason for #2 is that the package was set to Architecture: all even those it is a compiled C binary. Changing the package to Architecture: any fixes that issue but doesn't help with the other issues. It was changed to Architecture: all in error in 2017 because it wasn't buildable on i386. (It uses MMX so it isn't compilable on architectures other than i386/amd64.) https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mx44/1.0-0ubuntu7 5. We're trying to remove gtk2 from Ubuntu, perhaps for 26.10. 6. The AUR has packaged a version 2, but Ubuntu's package wasn't updated to that version 7. The project website appears to have been down since 2019. 8.
