Public bug reported:
Hello. I have an Asus Vivobook F1502VA computer with an Intel i5
processor and I use both Ubuntu Budgie 24.04.3 LTS and ArchLinux.
Since my computer's native network adapter is not yet supported by the
Linux kernels, I'm using an external TP-LINK Archer TX20U nano dongle.
Until the day before yesterday, I was using an external driver with
dkms...it was the "morronwr" driver from GitHub. But yesterday I updated
my Linux kernel in Ubuntu Budgie to the latest version 6.17.0-14 generic
and realized that you had included this driver in the native Linux
kernel.
I was getting a compilation error with the new kernel...so I removed the
external driver (the one from dkms) and was able to install the new
kernel.
But now it turns out that:
On ArchLinux: I haven't updated the kernel yet and I'm still using the
external driver from "morronwr"... so everything's fine (until I update
the kernel, I suppose).
On Ubuntu Budgie: With the new kernel 6.17.0-14, sometimes the antenna
turns on and works... other times it doesn't... 95% of the time it
doesn't work; 5% of the time it does...an it's sooooo slow.
I'm sending you screenshots so you can solve the problem. Thank you so
much for your work.
