Public bug reported:

Summary

After applying updates to Ubuntu 24.04.3 and installing LXD, a corporate
ThinkPad T14 entered a bootloop state. Immediately following successful
LUKS decryption, the system would crash and kick the user (me) back to
the GRUB menu. The issue persisted across multiple kernel versions
(6.14.0-1019-oem, 6.14.0-1018-oem, and 6.14.0-37-generic).

The system eventually recovered after booting into Recovery Mode and
then performing a standard reboot, during the course of a discussion
with the Canonical Support Team on Mattermost. Post-recovery, the system
is stable on the latest OEM kernel, and previously reported hardware
issues (Bluetooth initialization) appear to have also resolved.

Environment

Machine: Lenovo ThinkPad T14 (21QJCTO1WW)
OS: Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS
Kernel (at time of failure): 6.14.0-1019-oem
Authentication: authd (Canonical corporate environment)
Disk Layout: LVM on LUKS

Steps to reproduce

The issue is currently non-deterministic as it was resolved by a
recovery boot, but the state leading to it was:

1. Apply standard updates to 24.04.3.
2. Install LXD.
3. Reboot machine.
4. Enter LUKS passphrase at the splash screen.

Expected Result: Transition to GDM login or user session.
Actual Result: System resets immediately after decryption, returning to GRUB.

Logs & Technical Observations

Logs from the failing state (journalctl -b) show significant noise
around GDM and the GPU stack:

Current Status

System is currently operational.
