PROBLEM:
Internal microphone stopped working after kernel 6.8.0-63.
WORKING:
- Kernel 6.8.0-63-generic: Microphone works perfectly
NOT WORKING:
- Kernel 6.8.0-64 through 6.8.0-92: Microphone not working
- Kernel 6.17.0-14-generic: Microphone not working
TECHNICAL DETAILS:
- Microphone is detected correctly (arecord -l shows device)
- Audio nodes detected: 0x13 and 0x1b (both show as "Internal Mic")
- All amplifiers can be configured (unmuted, gain set to maximum)
- No audio is captured despite correct configuration
- Codec shows: snd_hda_codec_alc269 with "ALC256: picked fixup (pin match)"
EXPECTED:
The fix for ALC256 microphones in ASUS laptops (included in kernel 6.14+)
should work in kernel 6.17, but it appears the fixup is not being applied
correctly for this specific model.
WORKAROUND:
Using kernel 6.8.0-63-generic.
