I've been slowly moving to Debian and Arch because subsequent Ubuntu releases have become so slow it's almost unusable, and this thread has put the final nail in the coffin for me with Ubuntu. I've used Ubuntu since 6.06, and I will never recommend Ubuntu again, ever, to anyone, and will actively oppose using it personally and professionally, including the different flavors (Xubuntu has always been my favorite). It is not the issue itself, but the behavior of the Canonical development team behind snap, that makes this issue so abhorrent. It is truly unbelievable that this bug is still open. If you want to turn a Linux distribution into a new Android or iOS, you should rename it, not keep the original and break the expectations of many, many thousands of users, probably at least in the 10's of thousands because of the fact that 1459 people felt strongly enough to go here to the snap bug tracker and actually click that button that says they are also affected. While I am affected and it only mildly bothers me, the aforementioned handling of this issue is unacceptable, with a particularly toxic poignancy in the FOSS/OSS space.
