Public bug reported:

Hello!

Looks like syncthing package (1.27.2~ds4-1ubuntu0.24.04.3) in Noble
requires lots of packages it does not need.

apt says that it is going to install a long list of packages including
gcc/compiler, mesa, x11, perl, etc:

The following additional packages will be installed:

cpp
cpp-13
cpp-13-x86-64-linux-gnu
cpp-x86-64-linux-gnu
gcc-13-base
libauthen-sasl-perl
libclone-perl
libdata-dump-perl
libdrm-amdgpu1
libdrm-intel1
libegl-mesa0
libegl1
libencode-locale-perl
libfile-basedir-perl
libfile-desktopentry-perl
libfile-listing-perl
libfile-mimeinfo-perl
libfont-afm-perl
libgbm1
libgl1
libgl1-mesa-dri
libgles2
libglvnd0
libglx-mesa0
libglx0
libhtml-form-perl
...

I do not think that code syncthing service needs all these libraries
actually. Such dependencies may be need for GUI tray applets but they
are put into separate deb packages usually.

** Affects: syncthing (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
