Public bug reported: The MIR for gst-thumbnailers was very recently ACK'd by the security team, but since we're in a freeze, I request an exception to allow move this universe package into main, this will allow us to fully deprecate Totem and its thumbnailers.
See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gst- thumbnailers/+bug/2137712 for more information. gst-thumbnailers is intended to replace the thumbnailers from the Totem package. It's written in a memory safe language, and uses Glycin for sandboxed image manipulation. It is now the officially recommended GNOME thumbnailer, so we'd like to stay in sync with upstream here (see: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Releng/AppOrganization/-/issues/35) The package builds and runs extensive autopkgtests, https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gst-thumbnailers/1.0~rc-1ubuntu1 I have been running these thumbnailers locally for a few months and found no issues within my own media library. $ seeded-in-ubuntu gst-thumbnailers gst-thumbnailers's binaries are not seeded. ** Affects: gst-thumbnailers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2143727 Title: [FFE] Move gst-thumbnailers to the main component To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gst-thumbnailers/+bug/2143727/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
