Public bug reported:
The ntpd file /usr/share/zoneinfo/leap-seconds.list has expired and
needs to be updated. When it expires users see log messages as:
Mar 04 21:36:58 smtp ntpd[1283]: CLOCK: leapsecond file
('/usr/share/zoneinfo/leap-seconds.list'): expired less than 68 days ago
Mar 05 21:36:58 smtp ntpd[1283]: CLOCK: leapsecond file
('/usr/share/zoneinfo/leap-seconds.list'): expired less than 69 days ago
Mar 06 21:36:58 smtp ntpd[1283]: CLOCK: leapsecond file
('/usr/share/zoneinfo/leap-seconds.list'): expired less than 70 days ago
Mar 07 21:36:58 smtp ntpd[1283]: CLOCK: leapsecond file
('/usr/share/zoneinfo/leap-seconds.list'): expired less than 71 days ago
Mar 08 22:36:58 smtp ntpd[1283]: CLOCK: leapsecond file
('/usr/share/zoneinfo/leap-seconds.list'): expired less than 72 days ago
Mar 09 22:36:58 smtp ntpd[1283]: CLOCK: leapsecond file
('/usr/share/zoneinfo/leap-seconds.list'): expired less than 73 days ago
The most authoritative source of the file appears to now be from IERS
(see:
https://kb.meinbergglobal.com/kb/time_sync/ntp/configuration/ntp_leap_second_file#sites_providing_a_leap_second_file)
and can be pulled from https://hpiers.obspm.fr/iers/bul/bulc/ntp/leap-
seconds.list
This problem seems to exist in all LTS releases and the current 25.10
release as well.
