Public bug reported:
The internal display of a Lenovo Legion 7 2021 (AMD Renoir iGPU + NVIDIA
RTX 3080 Mobile) is locked at 60Hz under Linux with the amdgpu driver,
despite the panel (BOE NE160QDM-NY1, 2560x1600) supporting up to 165Hz
as declared in the EDID itself.
The EDID correctly reports a range of 60-165Hz and the AMD FreeSync
block declares minimum 60Hz / maximum 165Hz, but only a single DTD at
60Hz is present. The amdgpu driver does not expose additional refresh
rates.
Attempted workarounds that failed:
- `drm.edid_firmware` kernel parameter is ignored by amdgpu (ACPI-provided EDID
takes priority)
- Writing a custom EDID with 144Hz DTD to
`/sys/kernel/debug/dri/0000:06:00.0/eDP-1/edid_override` followed by
`trigger_hotplug` does not persist the new modes
- `amdgpu.freesync_video=1` has no effect
