Public bug reported:

Description

On Ubuntu with kernel 6.17.0-19-generic, suspend intermittently fails.
The laptop enters suspend, screen goes black, but disk activity LED
continues blinking. On wake, the screen stays black and the system never
recovers, requiring a hard reboot.

Hardware
ASUS UX410UAR
Intel UHD Graphics 620 (8086:5917)
Intel Wireless 8265

What I found in logs
Two previous suspend/resume cycles succeeded in deep mode.
The failing cycle stops at: kernel:
PM: suspend entry (deep)
No later PM: suspend exit or ACPI: PM: Low-level resume complete appears.

Before the failure, the journal shows i915/DRM warnings, including:
[drm] *ERROR* Atomic update failure on pipe A
and repeated
workqueue: i915_hpd_poll_init_work [i915] hogged CPU

This suggests a kernel/firmware suspend issue, likely involving i915
during S3 suspend/resume.

Expected result
System suspends and resumes normally, with display restored.

Actual result
Black screen on suspend/resume path, system unrecoverable, hard reboot required.

Current workaround (testing)
Testing mem_sleep_default=s2idle instead of deep.
