Hello,
After the recent update to libexiv2-27 (version 0.27.6-1ubuntu0.1) on
Kubuntu 24.04 LTS, kioslave5 started crashing constantly whenever
Dolphin tries to generate thumbnails.
System Info:
- Hardware: Dell Inspiron N5050 (Intel Core i3-2370M / HD Graphics 3000)
- OS: Kubuntu 24.04 (KDE Plasma 5.27.12)
The issue was resolved by performing a downgrade back to version
0.27.6-1build1 and putting the package on hold. It seems this specific
security/stability patch introduced a regression for legacy Intel
graphics or specific metadata handling in KDE.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Update to libexiv2-27 (0.27.6-1ubuntu0.1)
2. Open Dolphin in a folder with images/videos
3. kioslave5 crashes and thumbnails are not rendered.
