Public bug reported:
After upgrading libfreerdp from 3.5.1+dfsg1-0ubuntu1.2 to
3.5.1+dfsg1-0ubuntu1.4,
gnome-remote-desktop-daemon crashes with a heap corruption error on every RDP
connection attempt.
Ubuntu version: 24.04 LTS (Noble)
Hardware: AMD Ryzen 5 8500G with integrated Radeon 740M (radeonsi, no Nvidia)
Affected packages:
- libfreerdp3-3 3.5.1+dfsg1-0ubuntu1.4
- libfreerdp-server3-3 3.5.1+dfsg1-0ubuntu1.4
- libfreerdp-client3-3 3.5.1+dfsg1-0ubuntu1.4
- libwinpr3-3 3.5.1+dfsg1-0ubuntu1.4
What was expected:
RDP connection from Windows client succeeds as before.
What happened instead:
The daemon crashes immediately after the RDPGFX H264 capability handshake.
Relevant log output (journalctl --user -u gnome-remote-desktop.service):

corrupted size vs. prev_size

gnome-remote-desktop.service: Failed with result 'core-dump'.
Workaround:
Downgrading all four libfreerdp/libwinpr packages back to 0ubuntu1.2 fixes
the issue immediately.
