The quirk that originally made the speakers work is apparently still in place; at least in the hwe-6.17-next branch. So the regression must come from somewhere else. (I pulled the kernel sources with git.)
Git history for the file sound/soc/amd/yc/acp6x-mach.c shows that it was last changed in July of 2025 and it still contains my Laptop (DMI_PRODUCT_NAME, "82QF"). ** Tags added: apport-collected noble wayland-session ** Description changed: Hi! Since going from Linux 6.17.0-14 to 6.17.0-19 my Laptop has had sound issues. OS: Ubuntu 24.04 Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 7 14arb7 The issue: The laptop has four speakers; two tweeters and two woofers. With the newer kernel, only the tweeters work. (And sound is really quiet.) This is definitely a regression, because sound output was working fine before. (And didn't work on really old kernel versions from a few years ago. Not sure exactly when the speakers started to work properly though.) Possible workaround (that might damage the speakers): sudo i2cset -y 3 0x48 0x2 0 sudo i2cset -y 3 0x48 0x3 0 See: https://github.com/tomsom/yoga-linux/issues/3 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216299 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208555 https://github.com/tomsom/yoga-linux/issues/58 Not sure what exactly changed, since git.launchpad.net always throws a 503 for me. (Probably due to the current LLM madness; my condolences) Kind regards, Simon + --- + ProblemType: Bug + ApportVersion: 2.28.1-0ubuntu3.8 + Architecture: amd64 + CasperMD5json: + { + "result": "skip" + } + CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.04 + InstallationDate: Installed on 2022-12-12 (1194 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish" - Release amd64 (20220809.1) + MachineType: LENOVO 82QF + Package: alsa-driver (not installed) + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.17.0-19.19~24.04.2-generic 6.17.13 + Tags: noble wayland-session + Uname: Linux 6.17.0-19-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to noble on 2024-04-26 (693 days ago) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dialout dip docker lpadmin lxd plugdev sambashare sudo vboxusers video wireshark + _MarkForUpload: True + dmi.bios.date: 01/22/2024 + dmi.bios.release: 1.44 + dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.bios.version: K5CN44WW + dmi.board.asset.tag: NO Asset Tag + dmi.board.name: LNVNB161216 + dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.board.version: SDK0T76461 WIN + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: NO Asset Tag + dmi.chassis.type: 31 + dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.chassis.version: Yoga 7 14ARB7 + dmi.ec.firmware.release: 1.44 + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrK5CN44WW:bd01/22/2024:br1.44:efr1.44:svnLENOVO:pn82QF:pvrYoga714ARB7:rvnLENOVO:rnLNVNB161216:rvrSDK0T76461WIN:cvnLENOVO:ct31:cvrYoga714ARB7:skuLENOVO_MT_82QF_BU_idea_FM_Yoga714ARB7: + dmi.product.family: Yoga 7 14ARB7 + dmi.product.name: 82QF + dmi.product.sku: LENOVO_MT_82QF_BU_idea_FM_Yoga 7 14ARB7 + dmi.product.version: Yoga 7 14ARB7 + dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2145019 Title: Speaker output regression from 6.17.0-14 to 6.17.0-19 on Lenovo Yoga 7 14arb7 (TAS2563) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/2145019/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
