I ran another test, with linux-firmware 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.10
and kernel 6.8.0-48, the last combination which never had any problems
when it was current (around March 2025).

Still I am getting wifi failures.

Either the issue is related to a package other than firmware or kernel,
or I am really experiencing hardware issues (though that is unlikely
IMHO), or there’s something I haven’t thought of yet. I’ve run out of
ideas to try.
