Public bug reported:
Hello!
I have several operating systems on my laptop. I installed Kubuntu 26.04 Beta
and Kubuntu 25.10 to test them for myself. However, after changing the boot
order in Buios/Uefi , both versions of the distributions would no longer boot,
and would display an error:
ucsi_acpi USBC000:00: error -ETIMEOUT: PPM init failed
The error occurs after changing boot order in Bios. I have a Lenovo
ThinkPad E16 Gen 3 laptop with USB charging and a connected USB mouse.
I managed to reproduce this bug several times. The procedure is approximately
as follows:
1) Install Kubuntu 24.04 LTS or another stable distribution.
2) Install Kubuntu 26.04 Beta or Kubuntu 25.10 on the disk next to it
3) Go to Kubuntu 24.04 LTS, Kubuntu 26.04 Beta | Kubuntu 25.10 and check that
everything works.
4) Go to Bios and change the boot order. I put usb boot at the top of the list
5) Connect LiveUSB to the laptop and turn on the laptop (PC). You don't need to
install a new OS, just check that the boot order works correctly. Exit
6) Unplug LiveUSB. Try to boot Kubuntu 24.04 LTS, Kubuntu 26.04 Beta | Kubuntu
25.10 . This step may reproduce the error
7) If the previous step did not produce an error, then change the boot order in
the bios again and the error will reproduce
