Public bug reported: (alsa-hdspe-dkms)
On new (2021 refresh model) RME RayDAT. repro steps: play a youtube video or other web stream. open in a new tab: https://solitaired.com/spider-solitaire-four-suits?difficulty=medium. drag a card and you’ll see the audio breaks into a buffer loop. hdspeconf (snd-hdspe’s partner app) shows rapid flipping between samplerates and pw-top shows xruns escalating. next, Bitwig using snd-hdspe via ALSA. broken sample rate and buffer selectors. engine will only start at 48k/256 but any polyphonic playback suffers bad sample/bit rate distortion. (Unsure if this is driver or bitwig's alsa implementation because Ardour seems better under ALSA and can adjust rate & buffers properly). These issues occur under various conditions when using the RayDAT interface but the above are 100% reproducible examples.
