You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Pressing the "mute" button on my IBM Y60 laptop makes the sound mute just fine
and the speaker icon turns gray in the task bar as it should (I'm running
Kubuntu/Feisty).
But pressing the "mute" button again only displays the "Mute off"
on-screen-display in approximately 1 out of 20 times. I have to alter the
volume up/down in order to un-mute.
