We have merged https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/commit/b6c5dd1325d8680bfd145c1285aeac41fcbd6da2 now which should fix the issue on rust coreutils side and allow to remove the ubuntu patch, however I don't understand why the logic in the patch was removed already.
