Public bug reported:
ubuntu-drivers install installs the 580 (open) driver, while ubuntu-
drivers devices reports 595 (open) as the recommended driver.
I can replicate this on two of my systems:
Desktop with RTX 4080
Laptop with NVIDIA T600
Based on the output of ubuntu-drivers devices, the expectation would be
that ubuntu-drivers install installs the recommended driver version.
→:~$ ubuntu-drivers devices | grep recommended
driver : nvidia-driver-595-open - distro non-free recommended
This is not about preferring a newer driver version, but about the
apparent mismatch between what is reported as “recommended” and what is
actually installed.
