Public bug reported:
Confirming this affects real workflows.
Environment:
- Ubuntu (25.10)
- coreutils: ls (uutils coreutils) 0.2.2
- Emacs + Dired
Reproduction:
ln -s target link
ls --dired -l
Effect:
- Emacs Dired receives "link -> target" as filename
- dired-get-filename returns full string
- file-symlink-p returns nil
- Cannot follow symlink from Dired
Expected:
Filename boundary should include only "link", not "link -> target"
This is a regression from GNU coreutils and breaks tools relying on
--dired. Had to revert to GNU coreutils.
Also reported upstream.
