Public bug reported:
I'm on Wayland, not XOrg. I just couldn't find any way to report this
bug otherwise, since `ubuntu-bug`'s "display" option only does "xorg"
and there's no way to say it's a peripherals issue.
Basically, all three-finger touchpad gestures just stopped working all
of a sudden, without even shutting down, restarting, or updating any
core software. I can use the two-finger scroll, but not any of the
three-finger "left-right - move between workspaces", "up - show all
workspaces (same as super)", "down - while showing all workspaces,
return to active workspace" or "up - while showing all workspaces, view
all apps".
This has happened once before on a completely different Ubuntu computer:
I was using a Framework 13, now I'm on a Dell Latitude 7440, both on the
same Ubuntu version. I was doing completely different routine tasks in
each case when the bug occurred: on the Framework I was browsing
Firefox, and on the Latitude I was trying to install Office through
Crossover (unsuccessfully).
Additional information:
- `libinput debug-gui` shows all three fingers being detected.
- Settings - Mouse & Touchpad has no changes. Interestingly though, the "Mouse"
"Touchpad" tab list was on the bottom of the settings menu before I restarted,
and then was on the top after I restarted.
- Restarting the computer fixes the problem.
EDIT:
Now that I think about it, it MIGHT have something to do with the toolbar apps
at the top right? (the thing that in Windows would be called the "drawer",
where apps have a persistent icon at the top right that you can click to open a
menu. same place the Accessibility icon is.)
That's the only commonality in my behavior I can think of, aside from
having Firefox and Terminal open in both cases: clicking a toolbar icon.
On the Framework it would have been JetBrains Toolbox (a native Linux
app, so it's not a Wine/Crossover thing), and here it would have been
the MS Office icon.
Again, not sure, but it's something to check on.

+ while working and then randomly stopped working.
Additional information:
- `libinput debug-gui` shows all three fingers being detected.
- Settings - Mouse & Touchpad has no changes. Interestingly though, the
"Mouse" "Touchpad" tab list was on the bottom of the settings menu before I
restarted, and then was on the top after I restarted.
- Restarting the computer fixes the problem.
