Public bug reported:

Ubuntu release:
Ubuntu 24.04

Affected system:
Dell XPS 13 9350

Kernel:
6.17.0-1017-oem

Affected packages:

* linux
* libcamhal-ipu7x: 0~git202510170946.ec24db2-1~ubuntu24.04.1
* oem-somerville-tyrogue-meta: 24.04ubuntu8

Problem:
The integrated camera is detected by the kernel/IPU7 stack, but it is unusable
in userspace applications.

What I expected to happen:
The integrated camera should work normally in applications such as Cheese, and
video should be available through the exposed camera device.

What happened instead:
The kernel detects the camera pipeline and reports the sensor, and a virtual
camera device is created as `/dev/video0` (`Intel MIPI Camera`), but
applications such as Cheese show no image.

Relevant findings:

* The kernel detects IPU7 correctly.
* The kernel reports sensor `OVTI02C1:00`.
* The kernel reports `Connected 1 cameras`.
* `v4l2-relayd` starts successfully.
* `v4l2-ctl --list-devices` shows:

  * `ipu7 (PCI:0000:00:05.0): /dev/media0`
  * `Intel MIPI Camera (platform:v4l2loopback-000): /dev/video0`
* `v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --all` shows a valid format:

  * NV12
  * 1280x720
  * 30 fps

Userspace errors:
CamHAL repeatedly reports:

* `parseSensors: No sensors available`
* `ICamera: <id0> is invalid, max_cam:0`
* `MediaControl: readlink sysName /sys/dev/char/0:0 failed ret -1`

Media topology:
`media-ctl -d /dev/media0 -p` shows IPU7 CSI2 and ISYS capture entities, but no
sensor entity appears in the media graph.

Why I think this is a bug:
The hardware appears to be detected by the kernel, but the OEM IPU7 / CamHAL
userspace stack fails to enumerate the sensor as a usable camera source, so
`/dev/video0` exists but produces no image.

Additional note:
Dell support confirmed that there is no Dell-supported Ubuntu camera package
for this exact model and service tag because the system was sold with Windows
11 Pro and is currently running a customer-installed Ubuntu image.
