Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Ubuntu 26.04, NVIDIA driver 580 is installed and
kernel modules load correctly:

lsmod shows nvidia, nvidia_uvm, nvidia_modeset

However:
- nvidia-smi fails with "couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver"
- OpenGL renderer stays on Intel UHD 620
- PRIME offloading does not activate NVIDIA GPU

GPU: GeForce MX110 (GM108M)
CPU: Intel i5 7th gen
System: Laptop (ASUS)

Expected:
NVIDIA GPU should be usable with nvidia-smi and PRIME.

Observed:
Driver appears loaded but GPU is not usable.

This worked correctly on Ubuntu 24.04 with nvidia-driver-535.

here is some logs
 nvidia-smi
lsmod | grep nvidia
glxinfo | grep "OpenGL renderer"
dmesg | grep -i nvidia
