Public bug reported:

Hi,
My system freezes consistently after "[drm] fb0: amdgpudrmfb frame buffer
device" on every kernel from 6.17.0-9 to 6.17.0-20. Kernel 6.17.0-8 boots
normally (I pinned it and I'm using it ever since).

Hardware:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Motherboard: ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi (BIOS 4.10)
Tested GPU 1: Radeon RX 6700 XT (RDNA2 / Navy Flounder)
Tested GPU 2: Radeon RX 570 (GCN4 / Polaris) — same result

Symptoms:

After "fb0: amdgpudrmfb frame buffer device", all kernel and systemd
activity stops. No crash, no panic — just silence, then I force reboot
via Ctrl+Alt+Del. Console is visible and responsive (when the splash
screen is deactivated)

I tested a lot of different kernel parameters — no effect:
amdgpu.runpm=0, amdgpu.bapm=0, amdgpu.aspm=0, amdgpu.dc=0, video=efifb:off, etc.

Suspected cause:

This is way over my head at this point, but it seems the freeze might be
correlated with the introduction of patches for LP #2115860 in 6.17.0-9:

drm/amd: Unify shutdown() callback behavior
drm/amd: Don't always set IP block HW status to false
drm/amd: Pass IP suspend errors up to callers

I hope my bug report is fairly documented. Everybody is telling me to make one
so I can officially report my issue, but to be fair it is intimidating.

Thanks for your help!
