Please may you collect additional debugging information from Nautilus,
rm -rf ~/.cache/thumbnails
nautilus -q
G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all nautilus /dir/containing-image >nautilus-debug.log 2>&1
And attach nautilus-debug.log here.
I wasn't able to reproduce this on the PNG files I have. If possible,
attaching alacarte.png would be useful.
