Public bug reported:

In an attempt to maximize power saving on my laptop, I ran powertop and it
suggested using this module option:
options snd_ac97_codec power_save=1

Now that this option is enabled, every time some audio is played there
is a loud pop from my speakers before the audio begins.

Is this the expected behavior? It is very loud and obnoxious. Is there
anything that can be done to remove or soften this pop when and still be
able to use powersave mode?

Dell Precision M60 laptop
Ubuntu 7.10
2.6.22-14-generic kernel
