Public bug reported:

Hi there,
my video card is GeForce 7900 GS dual DVI-I output. I had no problems with
Ubuntu 7.10 until yesterday when I bought LCD TV and connected it to my
computer using D-SUB cable:
[PC DVI-I 1: DVI] ------------------------cable--------[Monitor: DVI IN]
[PC DVI-I 2: D-SUB adapter]--------cable---------[TV: D-SUB PC INPUT]
I am using 7.10 with most recent updates and restricted video drivers.

The problem is that Ubuntu is detecting LCD TV as a primary screen
(DISPLAY=0.0) and my primary monitor as secondary screen (DISPLAY=0.1) which
means when I watch TV or when TV is turned off I cannot do anything, login
window is displayed on TV only.
I was trying different configurations including Xinerama (I dont like that
approach) and every other combination, but the bottom line is: TV is always the
first, most important display.
I was trying to convince Ubuntu to treat my monitor as it was before, I mean as
primary screen, but as long as TV is connected, my monitor is always a
second-class buddy :(

The only work-around for this is to unplug TV when using Ubuntu (on
Windows everything works like a charm, but I use it only when I really
have to... but right now I prefer to boot to Windows rather than diving
under the table and disconnecting cables).

I am not sure, maybe it is some bug in Nvidia's GeForce driver, or this is only
Ubuntu issue... if someone could tell anything about that disaster I am facing
now I would be really glad. Please note, this is serious issue, makes my Linux
OS unusable right now).
In few days I should have DVI-HDMI cable and will try this. Hope shall not be
abandoned.
