Public bug reported:
I am reporting a hardware-specific regression on the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim
3 15ARP10.
Hardware details:
- Model: Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15ARP10 (Product ID: 83K7)
- BIOS Version: QBCN23WW
- CPU: AMD Ryzen (AMD PMC)
- Kernel: 7.0.0-15-generic
Problem:
When the system enters s2idle (Modern Standby) and is subsequently woken up,
the internal keyboard becomes completely unresponsive. The mouse/touchpad may
continue to function, but no keyboard input is registered. This requires a hard
reboot to regain functionality. Occasionally, this state also causes the
Embedded Controller (EC) to desync, resulting in non-functional Caps Lock/Num
Lock LEDs until a cold power cycle is performed.
Verified Fix:
The issue is resolved by enabling the Smart Trace Buffer (STB) on the AMD PMC
driver.
By creating /etc/modprobe.d/amd_pmc.conf with the following contents:
'options amd_pmc enable_stb=1'
and updating initramfs, the keyboard functions perfectly upon waking from
suspend.
Request:
Please add a kernel quirk for the 15ARP10 (83K7) to enable 'enable_stb=1' by
default for this hardware configuration.
