I saw that Jammy was removed from this bug report, so I retested on Jammy, but still can't run Firefox Snap in a guest session. When I run it from the desktop, then nothing happens. I also tried to run from a shell. It failed with the following error:
guest-eltxir@avalon2:~$ firefox 2026/05/12 10:15:52.843228 tool_linux.go:84: cannot open snapd info file "/snap/snapd/current/usr/lib/snapd/info": open /snap/snapd/current/usr/lib/snapd/info: permission denied internal error, please report: running "firefox" failed: timeout waiting for snap system profiles to get updated Compared to 2022: $ firefox 2022/07/12 00:46:01.906615 tool_linux.go:82: cannot open snapd info file "/snap/snapd/current/usr/lib/snapd/info": open /snap/snapd/current/usr/lib/snapd/info: permission denied Little has chaged in 4 years. I also tried Chromium to circumvent the problem: guest-eltxir@avalon2:~$ chromium-browser 2026/05/12 10:17:01.512574 tool_linux.go:84: cannot open snapd info file "/snap/snapd/current/usr/lib/snapd/info": open /snap/snapd/current/usr/lib/snapd/info: permission denied internal error, please report: running "chromium" failed: timeout waiting for snap system profiles to get updated I'm running versions: Mozilla Firefox 149.0.2 (64-bit) On: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS Approximately 4 years ago I was told in my bug report #1981881 that this issue regarding Jammy belongs here. Bug #1981881 was sidelined and marked as a duplicate because of it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1593407 Title: Guest session cannot run snaps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/1593407/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
