Thank you for filing this report — I'm sorry to hear about the lost
crontab; that sounds very frustrating.

I've classified this as a Wishlist feature request rather than a defect
because the command crontab -r behaves as designed (it removes the
crontab without confirmation). The same concern has been raised before:
Debian bug #561295 (2009) and Ubuntu bug #1390701 (2014) document
similar requests but remain unresolved. Upstream (ISC cron) does not
appear to maintain a public bug tracker, so there isn't a direct
upstream channel to escalate this request.

This report will remain open on Launchpad against the Ubuntu cron
package so maintainers can consider it for a future release or SRU. Your
report adds useful evidence that a confirmation prompt would be
appreciated by users.
