Hi Tenny, Thank you for filing this report — I'm sorry to hear about the lost crontab; that sounds very frustrating.
I've classified this as a Wishlist feature request rather than a defect because the command crontab -r behaves as designed (it removes the crontab without confirmation). The same concern has been raised before: Debian bug #561295 (2009) and Ubuntu bug #1390701 (2014) document similar requests but remain unresolved. Upstream (ISC cron) does not appear to maintain a public bug tracker, so there isn't a direct upstream channel to escalate this request. This report will remain open on Launchpad against the Ubuntu cron package so maintainers can consider it for a future release or SRU. Your report adds useful evidence that a confirmation prompt would be appreciated by users. Thanks again for reporting this. ** Changed in: cron (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #561295 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=561295 ** Also affects: vixie-cron via https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=561295 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** No longer affects: vixie-cron ** Also affects: cron (Debian) via https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=561295 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2148064 Title: Prevent accidental deletion by crontab -r instead of crontab -e in QWERTY keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cron/+bug/2148064/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
