precisely, please run the diagnostics below and paste the complete
output.
After unplugging the external HDD, run and paste the full output of:
lsblk -o NAME,SIZE,FSTYPE,MOUNTPOINT,VENDOR
and also:
df -h --output=source,fstype,size,used,avail,target 2>&1 | grep
-v "^File"
Please try a different external drive (different brand/capacity if
possible): plug it in, wait for it to mount, open System Monitor, then
unplug it and report whether the same issue occurs. Include the brand
and capacity if available.
Before plugging a drive in (start this command, then plug and unplug the
drive) run and paste the output of:
journalctl --user -u udisks2 --since "30 minutes ago" | grep -iE
"remove|unmount|detach|sdb|sd[a-z]"
