Public bug reported:

Title: ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA507XU suspend/resume regression on Ubuntu
26.04 kernel 7.0.0-15, works with 6.17.0-23

Summary
A suspend/resume regression is present after upgrading this ASUS TUF Gaming A15
FA507XU system to Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. With the Ubuntu 26.04 kernel
7.0.0-15-generic, suspend either fails to resume reliably or the machine
appears to remain active/hot with fans running. Booting the older
6.17.0-23-generic kernel is a usable workaround.

System
- Distribution: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (resolute)
- Machine: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA507XU_FA507XU
- BIOS: FA507XU.314, 04/16/2024
- Current workaround kernel: 6.17.0-23-generic
- Problem kernel observed after upgrade: 7.0.0-15-generic
- Sleep mode: s2idle

Hardware
- AMD Phoenix iGPU: 1002:15bf, driver amdgpu
- NVIDIA RTX 4050 Laptop GPU: 10de:28e1, driver nvidia 595.58.03
- Wi-Fi: MediaTek MT7921 14c3:7961, driver mt7921e
- NVMe: Micron 2400

Observed behavior
After the upgrade to Ubuntu 26.04, suspend/resume on the new kernel
7.0.0-15-generic is unreliable. The laptop may not wake correctly, or it
appears to remain warm with fans active around sleep attempts. On the old
6.17.0-23-generic kernel, the system can suspend and resume more reliably after
disabling noisy wake sources.

Important log pattern from successful old-kernel workaround test
- 18:14:28 PM: suspend entry (s2idle)
- 18:41:32 System returned from sleep operation 'suspend'
- 18:41:32 PM: suspend exit

Relevant log excerpt
```text
May 16 18:14:24 systemd-logind: Power key pressed short.
May 16 18:14:24 systemd-logind: The system will suspend now!
May 16 18:14:26 systemd: Starting nvidia-suspend.service - NVIDIA system
suspend actions...
May 16 18:14:28 systemd: Finished nvidia-suspend.service - NVIDIA system
suspend actions.
May 16 18:14:28 systemd-sleep: Performing sleep operation 'suspend'...
May 16 18:14:28 kernel: PM: suspend entry (s2idle)
May 16 18:41:32 systemd-sleep: System returned from sleep operation 'suspend'.
May 16 18:41:32 kernel: amdgpu 0000:65:00.0: amdgpu: SMU is resumed
successfully!
May 16 18:41:32 kernel: PM: suspend exit
May 16 18:41:33 systemd: Finished nvidia-resume.service - NVIDIA system resume
actions.
```

Workarounds tried
- Removed stale custom GRUB mem_sleep_default=deep override. The machine still
uses s2idle.
- Enabled NVIDIA S0ix power management with NVreg_EnableS0ixPowerManagement=1.
- Tried amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10; no useful improvement, reverted.
- Booted old kernel 6.17.0-23-generic and made it default temporarily.
- Disabled noisy wake sources for USB/Thunderbolt/Wi-Fi/touchpad/AC wake; this
improves old-kernel sleep behavior.

Expected behavior
Suspend should enter a low-power state and resume reliably on the current
Ubuntu 26.04 kernel without requiring an older kernel workaround.

Actual behavior
The current 26.04 kernel 7.0.0-15-generic has unreliable suspend/resume on this
ASUS FA507XU hybrid AMD/NVIDIA laptop. The older 6.17.0-23-generic kernel works
better.

Regression
Yes. The issue appeared after moving to Ubuntu 26.04/current kernel. Older
kernel 6.17.0-23-generic is a workaround.
