GNOME Shell crashes repeatedly with signal 11 (SIGSEGV) causing complete
desktop
freeze requiring hard power button reboot. Happens multiple times per day
during
normal developer workload (VSCode, Chrome with Teams webapp, Firefox, Docker).
Hardware: HP ZBook Firefly 14 inch G11, Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, Intel Arc GPU
Kernel: 6.17.0-22-generic
BIOS: W70 Ver. 01.09.01
Observed errors in journal:
- meta_window_set_stack_position_no_sync: assertion 'window->stack_position >=
0' failed
- Can't update stage views actor [MetaWindowActorX11] needs an allocation
- GNOME Shell crashed with signal 11
Issue occurs on both Wayland and X11 sessions.
