Public bug reported:
== Problem ==
After resuming from suspend, the internal laptop keyboard becomes completely
unresponsive. The system log (dmesg) shows repeated ACPI errors indicating that
the SystemCMOS region has no handler, and the \_WAK method aborts.
Additionally, there is a USB descriptor read error on bus 1, port 8, which
corresponds to the internal keyboard.
== What I expected to happen ==
The keyboard should work normally after waking the laptop from suspend, without
any ACPI or USB errors.
== What happened instead ==
Upon resume, the internal keyboard does not work. Sometimes the system is
otherwise stable; at other times there is visible lag or instability related to
the wake-up process. The following errors appear in dmesg immediately after
wake:
ACPI Error: No handler for Region [VRTC] (0000000015339777) [SystemCMOS] ...
ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PCI0.LPCB.EC0.RTEC ...
ACPI Error: Aborting method \_WAK ...
ACPI Error: AE_NOT_EXIST, While executing method \_WAK ...
and
usb 1-8: device descriptor read/64, error -71
== Steps to reproduce ==
1. Boot the system and log in.
2. Close the lid or choose "Suspend" from the power menu.
3. Open the lid or press the power button to resume.
4. Try to type or press keys – the internal keyboard is unresponsive.
5. Run "dmesg" to see the ACPI errors and USB descriptor failure.
== System Details ==
- Laptop model: Razer Blade 15 Base (2021) – RZ09-0369
- Ubuntu release: Kubuntu 26.04 LTS
- Kernel version: (will be attached by apport / ubuntu-bug)
- The system already defaults to "deep" suspend (mem_sleep_default=deep). The
issue occurs regardless.
== Workaround ==
A temporary workaround is to reset the USB device on resume using a systemd
oneshot service that runs:
echo 0 > /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-8/authorized && sleep 0.5 && echo 1 >
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-8/authorized
This restores keyboard functionality, but does not address the underlying ACPI
failure.
== Additional Information ==
The ACPI \_WAK method abort seems to originate from the SystemCMOS region
handler being missing. This behaviour has also been observed on other Razer
Blade 15 models with similar firmware. All system firmware updates offered by
Razer for this model (Intel ME updates) have been applied, but they do not
resolve this specific ACPI incompatibility.
Please let me know if you need any additional logs or testing. I will
attach the output from "ubuntu-bug linux" as requested.
