Adding a data point with different hardware showing the same symptom family: iwlwifi crash under sustained traffic.
Hardware: System76 Serval WS laptop WiFi card: Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 320MHz [8086:272b rev 1a] Distro: Pop!_OS 24.04, Ubuntu Noble base Kernel: 6.17.9-76061709-generic, System76 build Firmware: iwlwifi-gl-c0-fm-c0-101.ucode v101.6ef20b19.0 Op mode: iwlmld Signature: "Queue 3 is stuck" precursor → "Microcode SW error detected. Restarting 0x232" → "FW error in SYNC CMD SYSTEM_STATISTICS_CMD" → "Device error - SW reset". The device auto-recovered in approximately 1 second, but the UI froze for about 30 seconds while NetworkManager was stuck mid-netlink. Trigger context: heavy concurrent I/O, including parallel package downloads and desktop apps. System load average was 14.89. Frequency: 2 occurrences in 10 days of journal retention so far. This is different generation hardware than the original report. I’m adding it to suggest the underlying bug may be in iwlwifi / BE-family firmware itself rather than being specific to the reporter’s setup. Full scrubbed dmesg attached. ** Attachment added: "iwlwifi-crash-2026-05-19.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/2128724/+attachment/5972007/+files/iwlwifi-crash-2026-05-19.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2128724 Title: iwlwifi crashing after some hours, leaving WiFi broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2128724/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
